Pink October: the importance of breast cancer screening

Every year, the month of October is dressed in pink. This universal symbol reminds us of a vital message: early detection of breast cancer saves lives. Beyond awareness campaigns, Pink October embodies a movement of hope, solidarity and rebuilding.

The deeper meaning of Pink October

Born in the United States in the 1990s, the pink ribbon has established itself as a global emblem in the fight against breast cancer. In France as internationally, associations, health institutions and committed brands join their voices to encourage prevention and early detection.

This symbolic month is not limited to communication. It represents a time for speaking out and action: reminding people of the importance of examinations, lifting taboos, listening to affected women, and offering a message of hope to all those who are facing or have faced the disease.

Why screening saves lives

Breast cancer remains, even today, the most common cancer in women. In 2024, more than 60,000 new cases were diagnosed in France. Yet, when detected early, it can be treated in nearly 9 out of 10 cases.

Organized screening, free for those aged 50 to 74, is based on a mammogram every two years. This simple exam makes it possible to identify abnormalities invisible to the naked eye or to the touch. For younger women, personalized follow-up is often offered in case of risk factors.

Too often, fear or modesty delay consultation. Yet, time plays a determining role: the earlier the diagnosis, the lighter the treatments, the higher the chances of recovery.

Getting screened is an act of self-love — a way to choose vigilance, health and life.

After the diagnosis: the start of another battle

Receiving a breast cancer diagnosis upends everything. The body, self-image, confidence, reference points. What follows is a path of heavy treatments — surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormone therapy — and a deep inner questioning.

Hair loss, an inevitable consequence of some chemotherapies, is often experienced as a shock. It affects not only appearance: it affects femininity, dignity and identity.

At this moment of vulnerability, support becomes essential. The socio-beauticians, socio-hairdressers, psychologists, loved ones and associations play a fundamental role in restoring confidence and allowing each woman to reclaim her image.

Rebirth: reclaiming your image, rediscovering yourself

After illness comes the time of reconstruction. This precious, often discreet moment marks the passage from struggle to rebirth.

It is at this stage that the RENASCOR Laboratory intervenes, with a clear mission: to support post-cancer hair regrowth with the utmost respect for the fragile scalp.

Since 2017, the treatments REDACTIV1 and REDACTIV2 have been specifically designed to stimulate regrowth while soothing the scalp sensitized by treatments. Their effectiveness is based on a dual action:

  • promote micro-healing of the epidermis and the reactivation of the hair bulb,

  • restart the natural growth of the hair in healthy and sustainable conditions.

These treatments, promoted by certified socio-beauticians and used by certified SOCO socio-hairdressers and oncology partner centers, symbolize the hope of a complete reconstruction: regaining one’s hair, but also one’s self-image.

"Rebirth is not limited to regrowth: it is above all a reconciliation with one’s body, beauty and life." Stéphane PAULET, founder of RENASCOR Laboratory

Together, so that every woman remains an active participant in her health

Pink October is a month to mobilize, but above all an invitation to act all year round.
Talking about screening with loved ones, reminding someone of an appointment, encouraging a friend to consult a doctor — that is already taking part in the fight.

The RENASCOR Laboratory has been committed alongside patients and professionals since its creation. Beyond its hair treatments, it works for a comprehensive approach to reconstruction: physical, emotional and identity-related.

Because every woman, at every stage of her life, deserves to be supported with respect, gentleness and expertise.

Because after illness, there is always rebirth.
